Koya University and Huawei signed off on a memorandum of understanding.

At Koya University, Huawei intends to establish a research and coordinating academy.

For Koya University students and graduates, training programs will be performed through the academy, and they will receive Huawei credentials as a result.

Graduates from this academy will have greater work opportunities and more employment opportunities available to them.

A group of representatives from the company Huawei, headed by Dr. Rafid Abbas Al-Khafaji, Director of Huawei in Iraq, Mardin Abdullah Anwar, Head of Huawei Academy Support Center, and Ahmed Abdulfattah Abdulrazzaq, Head of Huawei Academy at Salahaddin University, visited Koya University on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, to sign a memorandum of understanding.

The Koya University President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, welcomed the guests, which was also joined by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Basit Kamil Faiq, Head of the Department of Programming Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Halgurd Sarhang, a Lecturer in Programming Engineering, Dr. Akar Hawre, Director of Quality Assurance, Director of University Relations, Dr. Hawkar Bapir, and Mr. Mohammed Karim Saydgul, Director of Koya University Media Directorate.

Mr. President of Koya University welcomed the visiting group at the start of the meeting and expressed his happiness at progressing negotiations with Huawei forward by signing a memorandum of understanding.

Mr. President remarked about Koya University and the institution's efforts to improve in the field of technology, highlighting the fact that the digitalization of the university is a key component of Koya University's strategic plan for the following five years.

Mr. president also discussed the value and capability of the Department of Programming Engineering in terms of the expertise of the teaching faculty and the skill sets of its students as well as graduates.

Dr. Rafid Abbas Al-Khafaji, the director of Huawei in Iraq, praised the university's president for his hospitality and stated he was happy to be at Koya University.

Dr. Rafd emphasized the significance of picking Koya University to be the home of the Huawei Academy, as doing so will help the city, the surrounding area, as well as students as well as graduates of Koya University.

Then, a memorandum of understanding between Koya University and Huawei was signed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, president of Koya University, and Dr. Rafid Abbas Al-Khafaji, Director of Huawei in Iraq.

Finally, the president of Koya university awarded Dr. Rafid Abbas Al-Khafaji, Director of Huawei in Iraq, an Honor shield in the name of Koya University.
