The President of Koya University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, visited the Consulate General of Japan in Erbil as part of the university's efforts to fortify international relations in light of the pillar (internationalization and global standing) of the Strategic Plan of Koya University 2023–2027 and in anticipation of the Third International Oil Conference, and welcomed by Mr. Arkawa Mikihiro, Consul General of Japan in Erbil.

During the meeting, Koya University's President gave an overview on the University's current structure as well as its history and standing both locally and internationally.

The five-year strategic plan that Koya University has developed, as Koya University President pointed out, corresponds to the university's constitution for the ensuing five years.

The plan's vision, aims, and pillars were outlined by Koya University President, who also underlined that Koya University has made significant local and international advancements in introducing and extending an entryway of coordination to implement the plan's objectives, particularly the pillar on "Green University."

The Koya University President discussed the significance of the most recent arrangements for the Third International Oil Conference: Waste Treatment in the Oil and Gas Industry, which is scheduled to take place at Koya University on April 28–30, 2024, at the meeting.

In his own words, Mr. Arkawa Mikihiro, Consul General of Japan in Erbil, acknowledged the importance of Koya University's standing both locally and internationally while expressing his delight with the visit of Koya University President.

Consul General of Japan in Erbil commended Koya University's staff and President for their work in creating the university's five-year strategic plan, highlighting the significance of this project for all academic institutions. To coordinate and collaborate toward putting Koya University's strategic plan into action, with a focus on the Green University pillar, within the terms of a memorandum of an understanding.

At the meeting, Mr. Arkawa Mikihiro, Consul General of Japan in Erbil, was given a copy of Koya University's 2023–2027 strategic plan by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, the university's president.

Dr. Pakhshan Fahmi Farho, the director of the Relations Directorate at Koya University, attended the meeting.
