Koya University participated in the festival with various activities and this was the first time the university participated in this comprehensive manner.
The Koya Festival was conducted on Monday, May 15, 2023, with the supervision of his highness Mr. Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, in the presence of Ms. Zhwan Sabir, Director of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government , Koya University President Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, foreign consuls, members of the Kurdistan and Iraqi parliaments, council members of the Koya University, administrative leaders, political party members, and social figures from Koya, as well as local and international guests, performed some sort of activities.
The Koya University’s activities featured a marathon, an exhibition of student’s work from its three faculties of (Engineering, Science & Health, and Education), final match in chess, ping pong, and futsal tournament, as well as a display of Kurdish attire from different periods in history.
A long-distance running race and a paragliding competition made up the opening ceremony.
Another part was the Koya University Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science & Health, and Education show, which featured a variety of student projects and works in the domains of engineering, science, and health.
The final game of the chess tournament, which began some time before this tournament and concluded well, was another Koya University event associated with the Koya Festival.
The display of clothes from various periods of Kurdish history and from all over Kurdistan, which was put on by the department's students, was another event put on by the history department of the faculty of education at Koya University. It demonstrated the variety and vibrancy of Kurdish culture, and how clothing is an essential component of this identity and culture in general.
In the meantime, Koya University's activities persisted within the scope of the pin pong league's final match, the student futsal league, and other events.
