Duhok University’s hosted an event for public universities across Kurdistan region to share their best practice in developing public and international relations as well as management. 

The event was joined by Universities such as Zaxo, Duhok, Soran, Koya, and representatives of the ministry of higher education. It included Presentations:

  • The role of IRO in the internationalization of the university in Kurdistan Region, Dr. Amanj Abdulla Saeed, H.E the minister’s adviser at Ministry of Higher Education
  • The regulation of the scholarship and study leaves in the higher education institutes in Kurdistan Region, Dr. Govand H. Sherwani, Director General of Scholarship and Cultural Relations, at Ministry of Higher Education
  • Research Productivity in the Kurdistan Region, Dr. Howri Mensurbeg, vice president for Scientific Affairs at Soran University
  • E-management of University, Dr. Dilan M.R. Roshani, vice president for Scientific Affairs at Koya University

2.    Discussion Points:

  • How can we activate the MOUs?
  • How to involve the returned scholars in developing a university?
  • How does the Ministry of Higher Education support the IRO?
  • The recognition of certificate/ degree from partner university
  • Cooperation between universities in Kurdistan

3.    Decisions made:

  • Next (IRO) workshop will be hosted by Soran University in May 2014.
  • International Relations Offices will have a Newsletter in turn. the first one will be prepared by the Directorate of Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education but the Kurdistan Region Directorate of Relations will have to feed the Newsletter.
  • The Ministry of Higher Education supports IROs projects but they need to initiate the projects themselves.
  • Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research namely (Dr. Amanj and Maqsood) will prepare a proposal for foreign universities support those that got the lions share of HCDP students. i.e they need to pay back the kindness that Kurdistan Higher Education offered.
