A workshop on language and literacy strategy in the social and applied fields was held by the Arabic language department of Koya University's Faculty of Education with the heading "Language and Literature Strategy in Social and Applied Contexts."

The Department of Arabic Language in the Faculty of Education of Koya University held a workshop on Language and Literature Strategy in Social and Applied Contexts on Monday, February 26, 2024, with the participation of Asst. Prof. Dr. Alan Salah, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education for Administrative and Student Affairs, as well as Koya University students and instructors.

Dr. Azad Abdullah Mohammed, the head of the department of Arabic language, gave a welcome speech to officially start up the session.

The workshop included a main panel consisting of four topics and chaired by Dr.  Azad Abdullah Mohammed and the items presented were as follows:

- Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Aboud Yasin talked about the subject of "Student Assessment Method in Educational Processes".

- The topic "Is teaching Arabic really done for religious reasons? or imparting religious knowledge via Arabic instruction?" presented by Dr. Zana Ismail Abdulrahman.

-Dr. Kosar Dilêr Mahmoud's topic "Metaphor and Rule in Arabic and its Comparison with Metaphor in Kurdish" was given.

-The topic by Lect. Koyan Ismail Juma titled "Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Electronic Sites in Language Teaching and Learning" was given.

The workshop concluded with the awarding of participation certificates. The final section of the main panel was devoted to responding to participant questions and comments. academic conversations between attendees and presenters added an additional dimension to the event's agenda.

KOU has two Scientific Journals; ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, which is indexed by Clarivate Analytics (ESCI), and Koya University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (KUJHSS). KOU is a proactive member of Erasmus/ Marhaba Project and Erasmus+.

KOU signed many Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with many International Universities, e.g., The University of Arkansas (June 2015). The Lulea University in Sweden (April 2014), The University of Nottingham in the UK, The University of Buckingham in the UK (Oct 2008), Belkin University in Turkey (Sep 2009) The University of Greenwich in the UK, Cihan University-Erbil (2021) and Tishk International University (2021).

Koya University is a memebr of The Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.
