Koya University Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Basrah

 A six-day visit to the provinces of Baghdad, Najaf, and Basra is being made by a Koya University delegation under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq.

During the fifth day of the visit, the delegation of Koya University visited University of Basrah, and they have been received by President of University of Basrah Prof. Dr. Saad Shahin Hammadi and some members of the council of University of Basrah.

The Koya University’s delegation was welcomed by the President of University of Basrah during a special ceremony intended for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. He also expressed his gratitude for their visit to Basra and the university.

The president of Koya University made a speech during the ceremony in which he expressed his sincere appreciation to the President of University of Basra and the University Council for their hospitality and welcoming. He also noted that Basra, as Iraq's major oil producer, had suffered the most adverse effects from the pollution caused by oil.

Koya University President, highlighted that “a significant portion of the MoU we are signing today relates to the oil and gas conference we will host in April in partnership with Basra University.”

Koya University President emphasized that the implementation of all the terms of the memorandum of understanding is a key component of Koya University's new strategy.

In his speech, the president of Koya University outlined plans to establish a high-level training center between the two colleges that will eventually include participation from oil training organizations and businesses.

As part of the ceremony, Koya University President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, spoke to the Al-Jamia television channel of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education about the significance of allowing access to central and southern Iraqi universities and emphasized that University of Basrah is a top-tier institution in terms of academic and scientific standing. For both universities, it will be advantageous.

The delegation from Koya University and the president and council members of University of Basrah met in the council room of University of Basrah following the signing of the memorandum, where they presented and discussed the procedures to put the memorandum into effect.

It is important to note the following aspects of the Memorandum of Understanding between Koya University and University of Basrah:

1. Hold joint conferences and training sessions.

2-Build cooperative research teams.

3. Agree to the development and integration of curricula for majors that are comparable.

4- Resources within equivalent fields are exchanged.

5. Organize staff training sessions and workshops on effective teaching strategies and lab quality.

6 - Establishing training sessions for instructors and students and coordinating with peer faculties.

7-Coordination between the Koya University School of Medicine and the two University of Basrah Schools of Medicine.

It is noteworthy that the Koya University delegation  includes the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Azhin Tahir Saber, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Dawan Jamal Hawezi, Director General of Research and Development Centers Asst. Prof. Dr. Galawezh Bakr Bapir, Dr. Ahmed Mazn and Media Director Asst. Lect. Mohammed Karim Saedgul.
